2024 Mountain Fire Investigation Summit

Hosted on the campus of AB Tech Woodfin, experience three days on a rage of fire investigation topics including fire protection systems, photography, wildland fire investigation,vehicle fires, and more!

Registration fee: Class fee exemption for NC fire service and law enforcement employees; private sector and federal employees will be responsible for a registration fee through the community college.

Supply fee: All students will have a $25 fee to cover supplies and materials

Hotel room rate: GSA rate of $135/night plus appicable taxes

The NC Chapter, IAAI will be presenting two awards at the Fall NC/SC IAAI Joint Conference in October 2024.

One award will recognize an individual Fire Investigator of the Year.

A second award is to acknowledge a Fire Investigation Team of the Year.

Please complete the required information and attach a summary with the basis of the nomination.  The description must detail the case work for the investigator or team investigation.

Nominations must be completed/submitted by a person/persons who were not involved in the investigation (i.e. no self-nominations accepted).

The NCIAAI Board of Directors and the Scholarship Committee offers TWO (2) $500 scholarships for NCIAAI members to assist in expenses incurred in attending the NC/SC IAAI Joint Conference each October.

UP IN SMOKE March 7-8, 2024 | Atlantic Beach, NC Handling an arson case can feel daunting because most prosecutors and law enforcement will only ever handle a few arsons throughout their careers. This two-day course is designed to give prosecutors and law enforcement the vocabulary, knowledge, and tools necessary to feel confident investigating, assessing, and preparing arson cases for trial. The course is also open to fire professionals to acclimate them to the court system and forming partnerships with law enforcement and prosecutors. The curriculum for this course will cover fire investigation, where to look for evidence, what resources are available, and a live burn. Open to Prosecutors and Law Enforcement. Space is limited. Reimbursement: There is no registration fee to participate in this training. Attendees traveling more than 35 miles away from the conference site may stay overnight during the training period and will be reimbursed for lodging, meals, and mileage according to our state reimbursement guidelines. Daily commuters will be reimbursed for mileage only if driving a personal vehicle.
