Dear Members of the North Carolina Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators,

As we approach the close of another year, I want to take a moment to reflect on our shared accomplishments and express my gratitude for your unwavering commitment to our mission of advancing the science and art of fire investigation.

This year has been a testament to the strength of our chapter. Through your dedication, we have continued to promote professionalism, provide top-tier training opportunities, and foster collaboration among fire investigation professionals across North Carolina. Here are a few highlights from 2024:

  1. Training and Development: Thanks to your participation and enthusiasm, we hosted several successful training events this year. From our hands-on workshops to expert-led seminars, we have collectively enhanced our skills and knowledge, ensuring that North Carolina remains at the forefront of fire investigation.

  2. Community Outreach: Our chapter’s efforts to engage with local communities have made a meaningful impact. From fire prevention campaigns to educational initiatives, we have helped raise awareness about fire safety and prevention, exemplifying the critical role we play beyond investigations. Additionally, our fundraising efforts for those affected by Hurricane Helene showcased the compassion and generosity of our members, providing much-needed support to individuals and families in need. Please also keep our members in Western North Carolina in your thoughts and prayers as they continue to recover.

  3. Networking and Collaboration: This year’s annual conference was one of our most successful to date, with record attendance and a diverse lineup of speakers. The connections forged and knowledge shared during this event will no doubt strengthen our field and our chapter in the years to come.

Looking ahead, 2025 promises to be another exciting year for our chapter. We are already planning new training sessions, exploring innovative technologies in fire investigation, and preparing to further expand our membership. Additionally, we will celebrate our 50th anniversary, a milestone that reflects five decades of commitment, growth, and excellence. Your continued involvement will be key to our success.

I would like to extend my deepest thanks to our board members, committee chairs, and volunteers who have worked tirelessly to make this year a success. Your leadership and dedication have been instrumental in achieving our goals and setting the stage for future accomplishments.

Finally, I encourage all members to stay engaged and share your ideas for how we can grow and improve as a chapter. Whether through attending meetings, volunteering, or simply reaching out with suggestions, your voice matters and helps us thrive as a community.

On behalf of the North Carolina Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators, I wish you and your loved ones a safe and joyful holiday season. Here’s to a prosperous and impactful 2025!

Warm regards,

RA (Andy) Thomas
