June 2024 Notes - Conference updates and more

June 23, 2024 4:43 PM | NCIAAI Membership (Administrator)

Hello to everyone and I hope you are surviving this heat as best you can.

I wanted to touch base with the membership and update everyone on several events and successes. First, I want to thank 1st VP Andy Thomas for navigating his battlefield promotion to his new position, but also for captaining our 2024 Spring Conference in Pinehurst. He and the Training Committee did a tremendous job of finding a terrific venue, selecting great presenters, and crafting a successful event. Reviews have been extremely positive, and we are excited to elevate the bar for 2025!

Thanks to everyone that stepped up and made this premiere training. Speaking of training, we are pleased to announce the inaugural Mountain Fire Investigation Summit. This 3-day event will occur at AB Tech’s Woodfin Campus on August 20-22. Board Director Bill States and his colleagues have assembled a great cadre of instructors and events. In conjunction with this training, we will host our quarterly Chapter meeting on August 20 th . Please see our NCIAAI.com website for more information. Nothing better than going to the high country for great training in the summer! The Burn Center donation drive held in Pinehurst will also occur in Asheville. I’m extremely proud of how our Chapter members are giving back to their communities.

Information regarding the 2024 NC/SC Annual fire Investigative Approaches Conference drops soon! Kingston Resorts in Myrtle Beach, SC, will once again host this event on October 21st – 25th . The Joint Conference Committee is in the process of finalizing the instructor line-up. Information regarding the schedule, conference registration, and hotel registration will be posted online and through email message soon. We have heard you clearly regarding the cell/wifi issues and we are making arrangements for better service.

Lastly, our chapter has suffered the loss of several Chapter members and other close family members in recent months. Please remember these families in your prayers and let’s continue to check on them in the days, months, and years ahead.

Please reach out to me or any of the members of our Executive Board if you have questions, needs, or concerns. Take a moment to check your online profile for accuracy as several members have noted missing information lost during our website migration. FYI, we have a number of possible future trainings and events in the works, and correct profile information helps us serve you better.

Everyone stay as cool as possible and remain committed to bringing everyone home at the end of the day. Stay safe!

Darren
